Mad Women’s Poetry Workshop

There’s a lot to be mad about, and chances are, you’re p***ed about something! Unfortunately, in our culture, women who express their anger are often labeled and called names, causing many of us to repress and self-censor.

We say: Enough!

Join poets E. D. Watson and Lisha Garcia for 3 weekly online classes exploring women’s rage through reading and writing poetry. Share stories, read amazing poems, and write about what rankles you — for catharsis and integration of your whole-ass human experience. This is a safe space, open to all womxn.

Fun, beginner-friendly class at Blanco State Park to slow down and practice presence before the start of the busy holiday season. Participants can expect gentle asana for grounding, followed by a writing exercise to connect with nature and the present moment. Come enjoy the fresh air and take some time for yourself! Join E. D. Watson and Lisha Adela García via the Institute for Poetic Medicine for a six-week course examining the use of poetry as a tool for social justice. Classes online via Zoom.

Bodies of Water – Teen Writing Workshop – June 13-17, 2022 @ San Marcos Public Library

This free writing camp presented by the Austin Bat Cave will utilize poetry, journaling, and traditional stories about mythical water creatures (e.g. mermaids) to tell our own stories. Participants will explore writing about the body in relationship to the natural world, including the San Marcos River, and the ways that it challenges us and support us. Each participant will receive a copy of Breathe and Count Back From Ten by guest author, Natalia Sylvester, who will be leading one of the activities. For ages 12 to 17. Registration required.
